Pros

Support to grow in skills and responsibilities, work independently (without micromanagement), balance work/life. If you are self-driven, open-minded to try new things, and willing to take on additional responsibilities, you will thrive here. We are surrounded by team members who think outside the box, then come up with ideas that inspire others to do the same. Ambition is contagious here.

Cons

Reorganizational efforts were less impacting than anticipated, but the lack of communication early on created a lot of uncertainty. Next time, communication and a clearer plan would lead to a healthier transition.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. Re-orgs (and change generally) are always difficult, no matter the circumstance. I agree that there are things we can learn from this experience, as there always will be. Happy you appreciate the different events, and that you find them useful to your goal of work/life balance. Would love to hear more from you on the issue of team member intervention. If you are comfortable, I would love to talk more about this will you. Please contact me to set up a confidential discussion. Thanks! Jeff Selander

Pros

I have worked for a handful of companies before joining Health Catalyst and it is truly the best place to work and engage in a valuable mission. It is also amazing to witness a management team that is so quick to engage and respond to any internal and external feedback. Tremendous leaders at Catalyst.

Cons

The company has a few growing pains. On-boarding and engaging new team members seems to the biggest challenge as we continue to grow.

Thank you for your review, and I agree that one potential downside to a strong focus on culture is the risk that the organization can tend to drift towards a belief that the culture itself is the product of the company, which is of course not correct. If we do not provide a long-term sustainable product that our customers will buy at a reasonable and fair price for them, and reasonable profit for us, then we are doomed to fail. A strong culture must ALWAYS be underpinned by a competitive, compelling value proposition, with economics that are long term fair and sustainable to both the producer and consumer. We are, after all, a business, with investors and financial goals, and a responsibility to see that our investors (both investors who have put financial capital at risk, and team member investors who have put their time and energy at risk) earn a fair return on their investment. This can be hard to recognize, and we, as a leadership team, and as a company, need to stare this issue in the face on a regular basis. I cannot tell you that we collectively do a good job of managing this at all times. I can tell you that we, as a leadership team, do recognize the above, and discuss to determine whether course corrections must be made. I think we certainly agree that we all would want to do what is in the best interests of creating a company that is long-term sustainable. We will continue to iterate on this together, and I share your confidence that we as a group of fellow owners share the same desire on this point. Thank you!

Innovative, great company to work for

Pros

Provides great benefits, values work-life balance, and it feels good knowing that I'm a part of a company that is constantly striving for innovative solutions to transform healthcare.

Cons

Being a remote employee, it is sometimes hard to feel connected to the corporate office in SLC, both in terms of work and company culture. However, I know that is something the company is constantly working to improve on and these things take time.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and review! Hopefully you were able to participate in our recent remote team member town hall discussion. It was great to convene a forum and spend an hour on this worthy topic with our team. There is more to come in this regard as well. In the coming weeks expect to see additional efforts to improve connectedness. This is an important topic!
