Used to be great place to work

Pros

Used to feel like a family (not anymore due to merger with Park Nicollet). Pretty flexible (for some people). Nice coworkers. Good benefits.

Cons

Poor management that is continually changing for no apparent reason. Too many highly paid senior managers. Most managers are skillful, but a couple are micromanagers who drive their staff crazy. Few opportunities for advancement unless your manager champions you (rare in some departments). Low pay compared with market except for senior management. Low morale due to constantly fluctuating conditions, lack of direction and poor communication with employees.

Pros

Not super intense work environments depending on department, nearly impossible to be fired, can learn a lot, really great work life balance and understanding on personal issues when they arise.

Cons

Very poor yearly raises, somewhat average or below market pay for positions, there's a culture of having meetings to talk about how there's not enough time to get things done, but it's due to having too many meetings. The most recent detrimental trend is the championing of consultants. A lot of management think consultants who come in seem to know more than the employees who have been there for years. It's insulting to the employee and gives a false ego to the consultant. It's partially why I'm looking for a job.
