Great place to work but no room for growth or increases

Pros

Great office location and amazing building in NYC. Great cafeteria.

Cons

Hearst boasts of (record profits) $10.8 billion revenue growth yet they had layoffs and gave everyone I know less than 2% annual merit increases. Pretty shameful for a company that is so diversified and swimming in profits to treat employees this way. Enough with 2008 recession era excuses. The economy has fully recovered for Hearst but their employees wouldn't know it.

Pros

Once you survive working for this crowd, you can work for anyone. Benefits are standard.

Cons

From my experience management cares about money, not the people making it for them. You work hard & you are loyal, but they are not. WAPT leadership won’t care about your health, your family, or you! You are locked in like a slave because you are FORCED to sign non-compete agreements. Those only benefit this corporation & in no way help you as an employee. This is a toxic place to work and we were managed by threats and intimidation. Management wasn’t honest, so when you combine all of the above, it’s not a pleasant environment.

Pros

Iconic Magazine Media Brands that people love!

Cons

New president that has a very short term outlook, and presumes he’s the smartest person in the room. Making change can be necessary, but doing it in a way that has total disregard for people and the brands that have sustained the company for many years isn’t wise or in keeping in the spirit of very decent Vice-Chairman who built the Company, Frank Bennic. Staff is anxious and many previously loyal employees are seeking employment elsewhere.
