      Pros

      Amazing mission - talent and drive to execute on it Passionate and committed employees Good bonding across colleagues Management strives to make this a special place. Lots of attention to people, not just the product. Management is easy to talk to and reach out. No hierarchy. Great snacks; good food breakfast, lunch and dinner

      Cons

      Commute times since relocation to San Carlos - despite commuting solutions (shuttle, uber, etc) Bonding across colleagues is slowly fading due to fast employee growth

      Doing cool stuff with awesome people

      Super duper intelligent coworkers! A real appreciation for design, content, and science Working on an idea that's never been done before Great culture: open communication, supportive Learn about genetics and how DNA is relevant to everyone Free food! Free snacks! Free drinks!

      Cons

      Sometimes the commute can be a pain, but as long as I listen to an interesting podcast or audiobook, it's not so bad.

      Great company with a great mission

      Pros

      Helix has an amazing mission as a company: to empower every person to improve their life through DNA. And that mission is not just words! The people here live it, and besides meaning good things generally, that creates a pretty cohesive culture. It really feels like we're working as a team.

      Cons

      The only potential downside that I can think of is that, since the company is still forming, there is a lot of change. It works for me, but I can see how some people, especially people not used to startups, would find that disconcerting.
