      Pros

      - Strong momentum and market traction in the new population health / population genomics focus. Already the leader in this market category. Feels great to have made so much progress in a short period of time! - Making real impact in people's lives. Much more so than in the B2C / ancestry market. In our population health projects, already seeing lives being changed through early detection of disease - Working with health systems, researchers, and payers around the US, including some of the largest. The industry is going to be surprised when we announce. - Amazing team who you learn from every day. There are some negative comments here from people who have left or were let go because the company shifted away from the digital marketing / consumer focus. Most people here are passionate about healthcare, believers in the mission, and probably don't spend any time reading Glassdoor. - New CEO has brought strong focus and discipline

      Cons

      - As with most startups, there's a lot of work to do. Priorities can change quickly so not a good fit if you don't want to have to adjust from time to time - Externally, not everyone knows what Helix does yet. Still more work needed to tell the story of what we've accomplished and where we are focused versus a year or two ago

      Pros

      - enticing company mission and vision - for a start-up, company already has a strong reputation and brand - smart, passionate, collaborative colleagues - transparent, open, culture modeled by department heads and leads - good mix of new grads and industry veterans (lots of opportunity for mentorship) - fast-paced, little red tape, support to get things done - backed by respected industry leader Illumina, VCs and partners - unlimited vacations which people take, free lunches, small touches like celebrating birthdays/ new employees/ any reason to eat food - people want you to succeed in your role and celebrate small wins - great health and medical benefits

      Cons

      depending on your personality these may seem like cons (for others, these are not): - fast-paced, short deadlines - wear lots of hats and projects may change on the fly (need to be flexible) - spot light is on you and your work - typical 9-5 does not exist but rather flexible hours that are driven by individual and workload/deadlines - fast growth and lots of changes every week, month - expected to take ownership and initiative for yourself
