They take all they can from you

Pros

401k is good.

Cons

We haven’t had a decent raise since Henkel bought the company. The raises we do get, don’t even cover the cost of living. They have an incentive bonus plan, but it rigged in the company’s favor. Every year they add ridiculous milestones, most of which we have no control over. They understaffed our plant, but they expect the rest of us to pick the extra work.

Allow managers to manage

Pros

Good benefits. Global company with opportunities for those willing to move. Stable company that does not reduce workforce very often. Good people to work with. Strong market positions.

Cons

Everything is micromanaged from Germany/Amsterdam. Vice Presidents in regions can't approve travel, replacement hires, scrap transactions, etc. They are not investing capital into plant upkeep. Roofs are leaking, parking lots have huge pot holes, equipment is old and runs to failure. They treat operations like a necessary evil. They nickel and dime the operation like they are going out of business. Raises and bonuses continue to shrink year after year.

Pros

The benefits are good. They truly care about their products and invest into R&D to be able to have high end quality products. Their Beauty and Laundry divisions are large and you potentially are able to take on new roles (promote from within).

Cons

I know Corporate is do more with less but Henkel stretches that too far. It is not uncommon to see 1 person with 2+ full time job responsibilities and the jobs are completely unrelated. It is very old fashion; there are a couple of Senior Managers/VPs that rule by intimidation instead of being a leader. They don’t invest into the business side. The reporting tool appears to be a proprietary system that only runs in Germany. In the States its a complete joke. You will not develop any skills with this tool. They want to run like and have the same level of data as a large company (that they are) without the investment.
