Pros

You’ll make good money if you live within your means , however the upper management would like to see you using all your COLA (cost of living adjustment) as a way to keep you working for them.

Cons

Unqualified people in their positions that are supposed to train you. If you don’t work the full 12-14 hours that day your looked at as lazy. Little to none OJT. A complete thrown to the wolves mentality and once something goes wrong you are the one to be blamed. Upper management will try to blame any subcontractor to make themselves look better.

We are happy to hear you felt well compensated while working at Hensel Phelps! You are absolutely correct—we keep our salaries competitive and benefits second to none as our way to acknowledge and support our hard-working employees. Hensel Phelps also puts a major emphasis on both on-the-job and classroom training. In fact, we offer over 250 training courses and our employees average over 100 training hours within their first year. Our employees are encouraged to take advantage of everything from technical training, safety, software and even topics that might interest them outside of their day-to-day job descriptions. While Hensel Phelps offers extensive formal training, another thing we’re known for is the trust we place in our employees. While some may see this independence as a lack of direction, the large majority of our employees are encouraged by this level of freedom, knowing that their company (and their managers) trust them and their ability to make key decisions, learn from their mistakes, and grow as individuals and professionals. This level of autonomy is what we believe creates great leaders within our company and one of the items that sets Hensel Phelps apart from our competitors.
