The company appears to be all about trying to coax every penny it can out of its customers whether necessary or not. This current strategy makes it hard on sales reps, particularly in smaller locations, because they are now forced to waste time trying to up sell customers features such as protection packages and vehicle upgrades that customers may not need and do not want. All this will only make for a bad customer experience and an extremely difficult task for the employee whose performance review will be based on how many of these upgrades he or she can sell. This policy can also add up to 10 to 15 extra minutes to the rental process making the experience extremely frustrating for all parties involved. If you are interested in a sales career take my advice and stay the h*** away from Hertz.
