Pros

Great benefits, with 2 weeks vacation starting off. Some good people to work with. Neat driving new cars around. Acceptable pay- salary for BM position is 36K annually, plus any bonus you may earn, along with company car/gas/insurance on vehicle. Nice feeling of being able to help people that are in a bad situation (without a vehicle).

Cons

Minimal support from upper management... a 'reservation' for a vehicle doesn't really mean that the customer will have that vehicle ready and waiting for them at the proper date/time. Hate letting people down when we arent able to meet the rez. Very stressful due to workload and the nature of the business (ex: vehicles rented for a weekend, dropped Sunday night, and then need to be cleaned/gassed/washed/prepped before opening for Monday morning's rush.) It just wont happen without the proper staffing for a location, which we almost never have. High turnover, too. This is a sales position, whether you are told that or not when hired. ALSO, the company frequently will cut all overtime out of the wages, meaning you get more time off, but you aren't making the money that you were likely told about when hired in. Make sure you can cut it at 10/hr, 40hrs a week, and then sell sell sell to get the bonuses and the overtime that is allowed.

Pros

Gives you a very strong foundation for a business career, you are able to learn sales/service/logistics/cost management/P and L/fleet management At the Branch Manager Level and higher, free car with free gas and free insurance Hands off approach by management if you are growing your business You essentially get to run your own business. You hire your employees, you can fire employees if they aren't working out, you are paid a salary, but bonused off of the revenue/profit improvement of the branch. It's a good program if you're willing to get your hands dirty and learn the industry.

Cons

Branch employees have too many irons in the fire....cleaning cars, doing the rentals, answering all the phone calls, handling all the returns, cleaning the office, tons and tons of paperwork, not to mention the sales calls that are required on a monthly basis Not sure why experience can't be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.....I've passed up some great resumes simply due to the fact that they weren't college grads. GM's are not present at the branch level....they only have your numbers to judge you by. This could work as an advantage or disadvantage, but there is a lot more to what an employee contributes than numbers on a page.
