Pros

-There is an opportunity to learn new information and increase your skill set on almost a daily basis. Rich environment for intellectually curious people. You will have to teach yourself though, as the management, in most cases, won't help you. -The people actually doing the work are very engaging and interesting. They are people you want to hang out and interact with on a regular basis.

Cons

-Some of the senior level executives don't know how to create a collaborative environment. There is a decent amount of yelling, make sure you have really thick skin if you decide to join the team. -HT would rather spend money on high priced vendors than hire additional staff members to handle the work load. Most of the departments are overworked and are forced to take on more work regardless. Some employees experience a high amount of stress on a somewhat regular basis. -Senior level managers seem to favor some employees over others. -Organization struggles with customer satisfaction. -Most staff members don't have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and it only gets worse the longer you work at HT. -Quality process improvement is needed in almost every department. Most departments struggle to operate efficiently.

Pros

Decent salary. Snack bar and sodas filled daily. That’s it really.

Cons

In regards to Corporate, this company and it’s managers relies on fear to rule their staff and they almost always side with the end user. No real support for the technical staff. Bully culture, relies on threats and out of the blue terminations to keep staff “in check” ...Pretty disgusting lack of empathy here. Very cringy corporate culture. Creating processes for everything when in some cases not needed at all. Creating processes out of boredom then giving those processes over-corporatized naming conventions to sound smart. In one case they had two or three different names for the same process. Managers talk to you like you are a number. If you just keep your head down and do your work that isn’t enough in some cases...If you don’t engage with people and just do your job it’s not enough. Very tense atmosphere.

Pros

New CEO bringing fresh ideas and changes for the advisor community. From the outside looking in, Hightower functions well for advisors. Unique business model and growing.

Cons

Do not recommend working for corporate. In the 2 years that I have been at the company, there have been 0 efforts to focus on career growth and advancement of associate or manager level employees. In addition, every month a new “Head of ___” is hired or fired. There’s a reason why you always feel like you are talking to someone new in the home office. This creates a perpetual cycle of turnover while facilitating an environment where associates are left taking on manager/director level work, while new directors and “heads” are hired above them. Not sustainable. No real talent will stay with the company at its current rate.
