Pros

Good teamwork and environment. Can learn from the best in the industry. Have the ownership to take actions on your own.

Cons

Bad life and work balance. Long hours and busy shifts. Have to be flexible and hard-working in order to complete the requirements.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us this feedback as we respect and acknowledge that everyone has responsibilities outside of Hilton. As leaders, we try to do what we can in order to help you maintain a work-life balance. Of course, we recognize the difficulties inherent in this balance with a business that is 24/7. If you find that your workload is inappropriately and adversely affecting your personal life, your health or your ability to service our clients, we would encourage you to speak with your manager or HR team. This direct feedback helps us continually evaluate what's working and any areas of opportunites for improvement.

Good benefits for this industry, long hours

Pros

Hilton name looks great on the CV, good benefits e.g. staff canteen, discount on booking rooms and restaurants (subject to availability), some very great and motivated team members, good support from HR if one wants to change location after a while

Cons

imbalance between what is expected and resources provided (e.g. understaffed), staff is often expected to make up for under staffing by staying longer hours, sometimes without compensation, some promotions clearly not deserved but if staff is senior no action is being taken, lots of unnecessary and impossible to fulfill red tape (e.g. training records), compensation is good for the industry but bad compared to others

Apprentice chef

Pros

Overall, the apprenticeship scheme had its good and worst. What I liked the most was going into college. You had a lot of support from the tutor. I would also say that the paid holidays were good and free meals provided on duty.

Cons

Even though college was college, the work place was terrible. They promised to move you to another hotel to working after 6 months but they changed their minds. Also not to forget that the managers and even other colleagues with the same title treat so disrespectfully. They made my life miserable.
