Pros

I worked for one of the divisions of Hitachi for 8 years. They were one of the best companies I have had the opportunity to work with. Very customer focused and very employee focused. They listen to their customers and try to develop products that will exceed their customers explications and Hitachi will develop a high quality product.

Cons

The only real problem I saw was that Hitachi was sometimes late to market with new products. This may be a result of two basic issues: 1.) Cultural differences. 2.) Desire to make sure the product was manufactured RIGHT the FIRST time.

Solid Job, Not much of a career

Pros

As a former office employee it was clear that the work environment was very relaxed. Stress was at a minimum and depending on your supervisor, you could have flexibility in work schedule, time off, etc. The majority of the people are great to work with and the systems put in place (IE, computer hardware) are updated on a more regular basis than most other companies. Benefits are very good. This is a good stepping stone (depending on your job title) if you plan on passing through between 1-2 years of employment max. Any longer and the complacent culture will definitely hinder your career prospects in the future.

Cons

- There is a huge disparity between office staff and employees on the floor leading to very poor moral. - Pay scale is very low compared to industry standards and there is a clear lack of reward for work achievements. You can cost through your job and it will most certainly result in the same financial compensations as those who work efficiently and diligently. - Management lacks common direction and this trickles down to constant direction changes. Timelines are constantly revised and extended. -HR greatly lacks intelligent resources and this is well known between the office staff and shop floor employees alike. - There is no opportunities for advancement Over all, lack of leadership and common direction between management, HR and shop floor employees lead to a poor moral.
