Pros

Working around an environment & items that I love.

Cons

Almost no training in an area that training should be #1 priority. Let to close by myself (and being alone for 3 + hours) after only working 2 days. Then left alone for the whole back half of the store and then told by my co-worker that I need to step it up and work faster. Obliviously customer service is NOT the concern of the company. I don't get breaks (not that I was told not to, I just could not get away) and I miss out on my lunches too. And all of this for min. wages. I have worked at many retail stores and this is the first one in my 30+ years of working that treats you like no matter how fast you are going...it's not fast enough..I am looking for another job..Someone that will appreciate the customer service I can bring and knowledge in the many dept. in the store.

Pros

It could be an outstanding company to work for if they would uphold and honor their "Statement of Purpose" posted on their website. "Honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles. Offering our customers an exceptional selection and value. Serving our employees and their families by establishing a work environment and company policies that build character, strengthen individuals, and nurture families. Providing a return on the owners' investment, sharing the Lord's blessings with our employees, and investing in our community. We believe that it is by God's grace and provision that Hobby Lobby has endured. He has been faithful in the past, we trust Him for our future."

Cons

The company refuses to pay employees what they are worth. They keep part timers at or just above minimum wage. Very few actually get full time Dept Head positions with full time benefits/wages. Employees are constantly making the store look perfect by cleaning, rearranging displays, moving store fixtures; spending countless hours manually ordering out of stock products or counting overstock ( no fancy computers keeping track of inventory here folks!) that there is little or no time to assist customers and give them they attention they need or deserve. The only day that there are employees available to answer customer questions in every single department is on the day that a semi truck delivers stock. On these days the employees are so busy putting away that stock that customers are unlikely to get any attention because employees are not allowed to go home until ALL that stock is shelved. Many employees pull a 10 - 12 hour shift on that day.

Pros

Sometimes you are off on Sundays. Decent Starting Salary.

Cons

Many promises made to many co-managers for advancement and never mentored to advance. Expected to reach unreasonable tasks within a reasonable time frame. Prides themselves on family values. Didn't see much of it during my tenor.
