Pros

Good pay, closed on Sundays, good benefits and vacation if you are full time. I have made some really good friends working here.

Cons

Very little communication between managers, which leads to much confusion among associates. No scanners, not enough people scheduled to get everything done on a daily basis, department heads spending more time on registers than in their departments.

Pros

- I worked for HL for 7 years total (5 years part-time and 2 years full-time) - I have nothing, but good things to say about the company!! - Only open 66 hours a week (9am-8pm Mon-Sat -- no Sundays!) - The Green family (HL owners) really do care about their employees and hold true to their values! I was there throughout the lawsuit and was impressed by how everything was handled. - Great place to work for students -- my managers were extremely flexible with my hours & supportive. - They have increased full-time pay for the last 7-8 years. Currently it's at $15.24! - You do not have to hold the same values as the owner's, but it helps to understand why they run their company the way they do. - My managers saw leadership potential in me and allowed me to move up within the store. - Vacation time (1 week after 1 year and 2 weeks after 2 years) + PTO time (I don't remember the specifics) - If you're a crafter, one of the perks is getting to see lots of the new things as you are stocking the shelves!! (Although if you are a crafter, your paycheck will just be recycled.... you work, they pay you, you see new items, you buy items, then you wait for your next paycheck! Funny, but so true!)

Cons

- Yes there were some cons and days when I was frustrated, but when I honestly reflect back on all 7 years as a whole, I do not have anything negative to say about it. I love this company!

Pros

GREAT PAY! Company has very strong values which they stand by over all else, which is worthy of respect. Even if people don't agree with their views, you gotta give respect to the ONLY company that remains true to the mission statement created at the start, regardless of external elements that challenge it. MY store's management team is amazing. The employment opportunity was a life saver for me when I was teetering on financial ruins. But the advancement opportunities that I've been given have been miraculous blessings from God, legitimate fact. I've NEVER felt so important and appreciated by an employer and I've never deserved it less.

Cons

Company really doesn't trust employees. Not even management. Policies are archaic and inflexible, making customer service difficult. Such restricting rules leave no allowance for management to use their own discretion to resolve problems or even operate store. Leaves customers as well as employees unsatisfied.
