Pros

Family atmosphere, great people to work with and you learn a ton from the get go.

Cons

You cannot work from home even if you can do your job remotely. The work life balance is really lacking especially after knowing the company can run from employees working from home during COVID.

As far as construction goes, they pay the best.

Cons

Long hours, if management doesn’t like you it will be harder to climb ladder.

Good But Used to be Better

Pros

Great group of people to work with for the most part. Pay, Benefits and yearly bonus and increases are not too bad. Lots of additional perks included in benefits.

Cons

Holder was better when Tommy, Dave O’Haren and others were still in charge. Since then we have a lot more micromanaging. Less autonomy, and less management being held accountable for how they actually manage their people. There seems to be less focus on how upper management is involved with lower level associates and their development. Holder wants to be viewed with having a great culture but it is lacking from previous years. I hear about a lot more associates being dissatisfied with how the culture is changing and there is more turnaround than previous years. Pay has not been as competitive and health benefits are expensive. I would much rather they spend more money in my yearly bonus than buying me breakfasts, lunches etc. Spend money on your associates salaries. That pays the bills. Spend more money on teaching management how to actually manage instead of other things that are not going to pay my bills. Just because someone has been at Holder for many years, doesn’t mean they don’t have to keep evolving and learning how to manage better. Complacency has set in and it is a disservice to your associates.
