Pros

I have been trying to leave since I started so I don't know.

Cons

Home Instead is a franchise company, meaning every location has a different owner (unless one owner has multiple locations of course) so it really speaks volumes that *so* many reviews have had the same awful experiences. low pay, poor management, poor treatment of carepros AND clients. they only care about getting money, they don't care about anyone's lives. my franchise offers NO health benefits. low diversity. awful leadership. from an administrative perspective - there is no space for growth. no promotion opportunities. if there are, they want to hire from outside. this could be my franchise specifically but i jsut have lost faith in the company as a whole at this point.

Pros

The ability to meet some of the most wonderful and amazing clients. The rewarding nature of the work, itself.

Cons

Management does not care about clients or caregivers, they just want to fill shifts. They kiss your backside if you are willing to take the shifts nobody else wants, but if you limit your availability, and push for a schedule that fits your needs, they turn cold and claim they have no hours available. Turn a blind eye to abuse by family members towards clients going on in the homes when caregivers report these problems. Management often siding with the abusers or ignoring the situation because the abusers are paying for the care. Management quick to accuse caregivers of wrong doing in the home when caregivers are maintaining their professionalism. Care plans and client profiles never matched the required care needed, and current environment and family situations. Management would continue sending incompetent caregivers to client’s homes despite reports from other caregivers about the incompetence. Lie about how many hours you can work. Promise overtime, then won’t let you get over 40hours unless they don’t have anybody, then they expect you to work around the clock and always take an open shift, then get nasty if you decline. Management belittling clients to caregivers. Change your schedule and clients without telling you or your current client. No room for growth. Could care less if you have enough hours every week or desire to move up or learn more. Plays games with PTO you have rightly earned, refuses to pay you PTO because hours you are currently working are not the same as hours when you earned PTO. Gives you a hard time about taking any PTO. I could go on and on. Bottom line. A very toxic company!
