Pros

Most of the clients are great. You get to know them and form a bond. So the care they get is because of that bond.

Cons

This is a non medical caregiving business. Which means you are not allowed to mess with patients blood or meds. I was told (by the scheduler who is the patient's main caregiver)to do blood sugar on that patient. I refused. Then I was told to give meds to patient. I refused. Then i got a text message saying that we need to do a blood sugar and give meds but we were no longer allowed to chart it. (This text message came from the scheduler) That was my last day. If something comes up with the patient those charts are looked at too. I will not get in trouble because i do something illegal just because im told to. I really have no idea if the owner/manager knew what was being said by the scheduler or not. They are also very bad about not caring about client patient fit. Wages very low. Im still owed mileage.

All about the money

Pros

Good for extra money but not a reliable job.

Cons

The staff are two faced. In the surface they appear to care but money is the. Orrin line. Don't be fooled...they make more than a 50% profit per client. Basic care per client is 27-30 an hour. Caregiver gets around 10-13 an hour.

Pros

Satisfying job if you enjoy helping and working with senior citizens, which I did.

Cons

Office personnel does not speak in professional manner. They are pushy, condescending and sometimes plain rude. They act and say nice things to get you in the door, but once you are there the attitudes change and so do the promises. The pay is not enough and benefits are not offered. Schedules are not consistent. They do not appreciate their employees and do not consider the sacrifice the employees are making with their home life. They do not care about the client, only interested in keeping the client's family happy, because the client's family is the one writing the checks.
