Pros

Working with families. Watching children grow. Being a part of the children lives and knowing I could make a difference.

Cons

Due to covid-19 and not being able to find full time child care for my 4 children. I am not able to return to full duty.

Pros

HCAP offers benefits such as sick and vacation leave. It is the families and the children that make this job rewarding.

Cons

The Head Start program under HCAP is constantly going through changes/restructuring and is too top heavy in the administration/management department. This stresses out the support staff due to lack of manpower at the foundation level. The salary scale for teachers (especially those going from an Associate's to a Bachelor's degree) is not worth the effort. While the expectations of the teaching staff are not unrealistic, the time frame in which to complete them is unrealistic. Teachers need to work from home during off hours and on weekends to meet deadlines.
