Pros

You have the weekends off and great flexibility. You get good benefits if you work there full time. You work in a relaxed environment.

Cons

The opportunities to have an opening position in the companies are not that great. Since it is a government job, they just can't create an opening as a corporation or firm can. For a job opening in the administration department, you have to have had: retiree, layoff, termination, etc for there to be an open position.

Pros

The chance to help children learn. Great vacation time. Compensation is good.

Cons

It is difficult to evaluate teachers fairly because hard work and skill are not always reflected in student test performance. You may only eat, use the restroom, or make phone calls during your 30 minute lunch break. The after hours work load is heavy. The teacher union is very weak.
