Pros

I've been at HubSpot for a little over 6 months now. Leaving my last job I wanted to make sure I was going to a company that I could grow in and learn a lot. During my interview I was quick to admit that I would have a lot of questions in order to learn more and get to the point where I would be a strong contributor to my team and to the company. I was nervous that saying this would make them want to go with someone else. Perhaps, someone with more experience. The two people interviewing me told me that anyone I ended up working with would be more than happy to mentor me, they weren't kidding. I have been overjoyed with the amount of guidance and support I've received from everyone on my team since I started. Not only my manager but every single team member takes the time to answer any questions I have and help me out with anything I may need. This type of accepting and collaborative environment is truly amazing. Since I started my manager has worked with me tirelessly to make sure I'm working towards a promotion and feel that I'm growing in my current position. She is always telling me what I'm doing right and what I can improve on. The constant communication, mixed with praise and criticism, is exactly what I need in order to succeed. The benefits and culture are an added bonus. Nothing beats having the flexibility to work from home and take days off when I need to. A lot of people that I talk to about HubSpot ask about how realistic Unlimited Vacation is. To answer that question, it is very realistic. As long as you are getting your work done then taking time off will not be a problem. Other perks are a gym onsite thats open 24/7, only for HubSpotters, that includes multiple different classes every week, fresh fruit and veggies daily, constant communities service opportunities, lots of social/team building outings, and so much more. I could go on forever about the perks of working here but what is most important is what I mentioned first. People actually care about helping you grow your career and getting you to where you want to go. You don't see that many places but you definitely see it here. Coming to work every day is easy when you believe in the company and the company supports you.

Cons

Lot's of perks can be distracting. You have to know how to manage work and play. It is easy to get caught up in fun things that the culture team plans but you need to know when to say no and focus on your work. It can be difficult at first to find this balance and if you don't find it you obviously wont succeed.

I loved reading about your experience, thank you for sharing it! I'm delighted to hear that you were courageous enough to be vulnerable in your interview process and commit to learning new skills as part of your HubSpot experience, and I'm equally excited to hear that we delivered and that your manager has worked so tirelessly to help you grow. I think your push to ensure that we can continue to iterate on our feedback systems to be more personal, and that sometimes the menu of both perks and offerings can be overwhelming, so thanks for keeping us honest there--I think you're right that finding a balance and identifying what is most important to you personally and professionally early on goes a long way there. Most importantly, thanks for bringing your talents to HubSpot and for sharing such a thoughtful review. We're so glad we lived up to our promise to you and hope this is the start of a long and incredible career here. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

I've been working at HubSpot since I graduated college a few years ago and can't really imagine being anywhere else. Since day 1, I've been given complete trust in my work and projects. I started on the marketing team doing everything from writing email copy to creating offers and ebooks, to publishing blog posts, to coming up with social campaigns to promote HubSpot's global presence. There's always something to work on and anyone can say "I think this is an important project so I'm going to lead it and see what happens". I didn't realize how rare that was for a recent grad to be able to do until I talked to friends of mine who were working on things that would never actually be customer-facing. The biggest reason though I've been able to succeed in that environment is because of the people, particularly managers. I've read a lot on Glassdoor and other platforms about HubSpot's management, and while I can only speak to my experience, I've had amazing managers my past 4 years here. They know when to be hands-on and hands-off, and they don't just manage, they're impressive individual contributors which has made me work harder. Beyond managers, the people here are great. They go above and beyond to teach (someone led intro to HTML and coding classes during lunch time for anyone who wanted to learn and it was super helpful), and I truly enjoy being around them. People I work with are wacky, quirky, and kind. I'm going on 4 years here and I'm excited for what's next!

Cons

There are some growing pains like any company and things still being figured out, but I think that's normal.

I absolutely love your description of HubSpotters as wacky, quirky, and kind--I happen to agree on all three. I love it when people decided to start their career with us and stay and grow alongside the company, we're honored you chose us and I hope the trend continues. I'm fired up to hear how much you love Brian's commitment to chatting with employees formally and informally--I know very few leaders who are as engaged personally in the business, and I think you can feel and see that as an employee and hopefully as a customer and partner as well. Thanks for both your thoughtful review and for the impact you're having on our marketing team, we are so lucky to have your talent here! -Katie
