Pros

-They have great base salary -Remote -PTO

Cons

-Constantly Changing Procedures -Cold Calling -They always give out the sales direct number to others who don’t need it, and it effects your conversion -Work life balance doesn’t fit well -For an insurance company their insurance is garbage I worked at Humana for a year, they give a great training and try to make things fair with shift bids, they also give plenty of PTO. However, They have you cold call and most the times the callers are tired of getting five to six calls a day. The only time OT is available is during AEP. They do offer a generous base pay, but commissions could be a little better. For an insurance company their employee insurance is a disgrace, completely garbage. And I couldn’t find anyone around me to take it, I was lucky my husband is in the union and I could still use his. The stress of this job was so bad my hair started falling out!! They say people love being there when you get on the job, but you become a tenured agent after a year of working there and you’re vested after two, simply because you quickly find out that people quit left and right! They say they care about their customers, but they truly are all about money!

Pros

The benefits for this position are good including 401K match. Paid time off is accrued at a rate of about 7 hours for every 2 week pay period. Tuition reimbursement is available along with many learning opportunities including computer based classes, classroom learning, webinars, RN.com, Get Abstract, Books 24x7 etc.. Most of these positions are work at home positions which saves time and money that would otherwise be spent on the work commute.

Cons

In my experience I found that hidden behind the beautiful words of the company values and mission is a culture which is fairly toxic. There is a lack of respect and an air of condescension from above toward employees in this position. There is little tolerance for any feedback contrary to the "company line." There is lack of respect toward clients and arguably unethical behavior toward clients. For a company employing around 10,000 nurses they aren't doing a whole lot for the nursing profession. At a time when nurses are being asked to further their education and invest more in personal development this company does not compensate for it. The company does not understand the difference between work satisfaction and work compensation. Those are two different things. There is a high turnover rate and it appears to be by design. However, my experience was mostly limited to the Humana at Home division which was somewhat isolated from the company as a whole. This brings up movement within the company. It is difficult to move from one area to another; often internal employees applied from within with no success and when applying externally were able to make the move or get an interview for posted positions. Ultimately, the day to day environment and limited raises in salary outweighed the benefits and I resigned of my own accord.

Pros

Benefit package is just ok, reduced this year. CEO is still allowing WFH/remote workers but that may change at his whim.

Cons

Incompetent management (not leaders, there are none) that change processes often with no plan on how to implement or insight into how to streamline in an efficient manner. Nothing makes sense and what you are doing today is likely not what you’ll be doing tomorrow. There was a complete destruction of our processes with no training until late afternoon the day before implementation. They just play with our work in a Fly By The Seat of Your Pants structure giving no thought to how this affects us or our customers. We constantly live in fear of RIF. Upper management is clueless in their ivory tower, lower management is tone deaf and checked out. There is no Leadership, there is only Chaos. The company is amazingly good with gaslighting and telling you nothing has changed. They push people out only to turn around and re-hire and the cycle continues while they deny what they’re doing. This is not a company who cares about their employees or their customers. They send out a Survey every year and then withhold the results and ignore feedback. They are heavily invested into AI with full intention to replace human staff with AI.
