Pros

The only pros to this job are the students. It is fantastic to see students improve.

Cons

-Low pay, for long, strange hours. Full time employees work 10 hour days four days a week plus 4 hours on Saturday or Sunday. That is the official policy, however, it is routine to have to stay longer. - Time off policies are horrible. Centers are open nearly every day of the year, including some holidays. Half of the summer is a 'black out' period, and employees are not able to take time off. -Corporate group think is everywhere. You are encouraged to be relentlessly positive. - Low pay for a lot of work. - Full time workers are essentially in sales. You have to sell the Center to parents and kids, and a low paying job to future tutors and teachers. -A huge emphasis on money, even to the detriment of children and teachers. A student who threw chairs at teachers was allowed to continue to come until his parents stopped paying.

Pros

Flexible if you are part time. Kids and teachers are wonderful. Now and then a kid is really helped.

Cons

Franchise system with corporate push results in the typical bottom line focus with incompetent management in center. High stress, much blame, and the compensation is terrible.

Pros

People tutor to have flexibility in their schedule, and make extra money, usually to supplement income. Advantage is clients provided, and you work from their office, don't have to travel

Cons

The pay is laughably low and applies for a full year.
