Quiet Firing Is Real

Pros

Remote or hybrid capability. Usually a flexible schedule.

Cons

Constant quiet firing. They've figured out how to avoid public disclosures quite well. Every month they're whacking batches of 20~30 employees - esp. if you were in a higher pay band or part of an acquired company. There's constant leadership churn as of late - not that leadership was ever that great, but the clownshow has more makeup on the pigs now. If you were part of an acquired company, the stench of nepotism was constant. Hyland doesn't provide legitimate training or certification assistance for everyone. Their products would fail any sort of security scan by an AI tool too. If you're a customer, buyer beware.

HR is toxic

Business Outlook

Pros

• Strong foundational culture in many teams—colleagues are generally collaborative, supportive, and genuinely care about doing good work. • Solid benefits package and reasonable work-life balance for most roles (remote/hybrid options help a lot). • The core business (content services/tech) has real value, and many non-HR departments still feel stable and mission-driven.

Cons

• Experienced day-to-day HR staff (the ones who know the business and support employees best) are being pushed out or sidelined while more senior-level hires come in, leading to major knowledge gaps, slower response times, and reduced service quality to the broader company. • Employee frustration is high because so much time is spent explaining unclear decisions or managing fallout from leadership ambiguity rather than focusing on meaningful work. Previous feedback (surveys, conversations) hasn’t led to real change, eroding trust. • Burnout and quiet quitting are increasing; good people are leaving or actively looking, which risks bigger problems for retention and company support functions if not addressed.

Confusing Leadership

Pros

Work from home option and support for women employees

Cons

Hyland is in the middle of a difficult transition as it pushes its Content Innovation Cloud (CIC) and AI strategy, but leadership direction often feels unclear and reactive. There is strong pressure to sell and promote CIC, even when internal alignment, product readiness, and enablement are still catching up. Day-to-day work is slowed by heavy bureaucracy and legacy ways of operating, making it hard to move quickly or deliver a modern SaaS experience. While there are talented people and ambitious goals, the gap between leadership vision and execution creates a frustrating environment for teams trying to drive real change.
