Pros

Relaxed, fiendly, creative atmosphere, flexible work schedule, work-life balance, healthy opportunities, on site Montessori child care, walking trail, volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball court, gyms, game room (pool table, ping pong, poker table, video games)., and 2 diners Also the long term benefits make this a better career and less of a starting job. The transparency with business goals, customers, costs, revenue, and having an actively engaged CEO are also huge pros.

Cons

Sometimes decisions are made in middle management that are poorly communicated down to employees. This does get addressed and has improved though. Compensation is decent, but still a little lower than comparable jobs because they know they have good benefits.

Humiliated and Disgusted

Pros

Lots of family members working at Hyland keeping it a family business. Very profitable company with a huge outlook into 2017/18

Cons

I have never felt so humiliated and disgusted with an employer in my life. After 10 years of blood, sweat and tears. I get a 2% raise for 2017. That alone did not even cover the increase of the company paid healthcare and cost of living increase. I now make less money this year than last year. And the company posted record profits for 2016. Hyland decided it was best for the employee to have Spouses get a wellness checkup also to get a discount on medical costs for the sole reason to check on the employees total health outside the company. a longtime friend in HR resigned because Hyland was up to no good on how they treat employees. The employees who decide not to take advantage of the company sponsored Healthcare program are treated poorly by management and it will go on your record. Every single day employees feel violated and this year alone has seen more resignations in so less time in the company history. The only employees making money are those in Sales, but the turn over is high there also. Hyland uses Perks as part of your salary and those right out of collage and those desperate for jobs eat it up. Perks are only put in place so as to show the people outside of Hyland (Media / Customers and Competitors) on how great they are and treat the employees for the coveted "Best Place to Work" title every year. . A huge percent of the perks go unused and they even had countless meetings on ways to replace perks with other things employees might want. When new perks are introduced they lean towards the people who would use them more often to keep them working longer hours at work. Nepotism at Hyland is out of control. In my department alone 13 people are related and we can tell how they are treated buy the manager who is also related. Those who are related get the performance bonuses and tasks with chances of succeeding and brought into the spotlight by higher ups in the glass house. I was also told by my HR friend that many complaints from employees were in the form of manager retaliation when something goes bad on a task or project that a family member was working on, then switched to a non family member after it is too late to fix. Managers are unable to reprimand a family members and the person it was reassigned to gets all the blame. Hyland makes employees with 7+ years of service so disgusted that they quit, so they can be replaced by entry level employees for a cheaper rate. Hyland is also on the verge of a age discrimination lawsuit. Only older employees in customer facing positions are promoted and younger employees in non customer facing positions are promoted. This has been known for a few years. Interns are hired in the summer for live production work in the trenches to keep development costs down, most major product upgrades and dev work is around intern time so Hyland gets low cost programmers around major upgrade time. This is not the same Hyland it was 3 years ago, The CEO knows it also and should not be leading a lemonade stand, yet alone a major software tech company. He allows his Managers and VP's take full advantage of employees and allows them to cover it all up. Hyland touts Work life balance across all departments but ask hourly employees how they feel about it? After a critical personal life event I asked to work one day at home, and was told I could not because they couldn't track what I was doing and was told to take a PTO day off
