Pros

Pays more than minimum wage.

Cons

-Poor wages; does not allow pay raises equal to cost of living increases. I personally have not been able to pay for my degree with the job I've had at Hyland for several years. -QA work does not utilize the skills of the workers that management requires for job entry -Management is engrossed in the American anti-intellectual movement -Management has dogmatic views that are only based on correlation -Management does not adhere to its own culture and values -Management values itself and does not value their technical employees in QA -Workers that want to improve Hylands software practices are dismissed from the job -One of the "core values" of Hyland is to provide software that allows users to get away from less meaningful, repetitive tasks. However internally, especially in QA, non-meaningful, repetitive work is pushed onto the technical staff to handle and is not allowed to use any widely used tools in the software industry to alleviate repetitive work. This makes workers fatigued and less effective. -Management will use underhanded tactics like shaming, stating that "the amenities are part of the benefits package" which having a diner, volleyball court, arcade games, free coffee/drinks, etc. are nice but should not be used against an employee that is barely able to pay for their basic needs. Management also follows up with "we allow you to work overtime as a pay raise".

Pros

Good experience, benefits, flexibility, camaraderie, a great deal of learning opportunities and lateral mobility.

Cons

capricious management, a great deal of nepotism, a lot of corporate politics. States high values and then runs counter said values, can be treacherous.
