Pros

There are some smart people here

Cons

1:1 layoffs in the US for India hires was the last straw for me 80% overhead/20% productive time! Executives make awful decisions that will obviously fail but no one is empowered to prevent these disasters. I've witnessed several BILLION DOLLAR mistakes in my time at IBM! Full of managers and PMs with very few workers All management and executives were forced to RTO and told which offices to move up They did away with 401k match No promotions for remote US employees, deprioritized for raises, bonuses and stock More RAs coming next year

Pros

If you are a top performer (which I was) you can get paid well, and almost forced into advancement. Retention bonuses, etc were not uncommon during times of turmoil.

Cons

Almost on a regular cycle IBM would go from giving managers autonomy to evaluate their team members' performance, to forcing stacked ranking and "quotas" of low performers. For mature teams (support teams of stable offerings, who'd each in their field 10-25+ years) - forcing a "low performer" to meet a quota when there really was no differentiator, was too close to a lie for me. It was always worse when McKinsey was involved.
