Pros

None...Used to be a great company to work for but not any longer.

Cons

Pay raises of 1% or 2% every few years drives newer employees away. Unfortunately the respect for the individual that was IBM's creed has vanished. Used to be the Flagship company to work for however now just another large multinational that most new hires stay on for 5 years and then move on.

Pros

There are few. One would be rather than collecting unemployment, but for the most part I would expect that anyone desperate enough to accept a position at IBM should count on a negative experience. To some that may be the trade off to gaining experience and later finding meaningful employment with an ethical and morally run company.

Cons

Obscene greed on the part of senior managers, and incompetence at the lower levels of management. Not knowing if your position is going to be downsized, or right sized, or whatever term is the term of the day for IBM.

Pros

The benefits and perceived respect for IBM in the marketplace.

Cons

Unless you reside in the ivory tower in Armonk, you are just a serial # to this company. Management is a joke. They are not respected, because generally speaking, most of them are incompetent. They rely on their team to make them look good, so when it comes time for recognition, they have no problem accepting it for themselves, rather than passing it on to those who "truly" deserve it. The PBC rating system (yearly review) is a joke, it is a luck of the draw exercise. I have found that in 10 years with the company, it seems we spend more time trying to justify our employment by making sure our powerpoint presentations look pretty and also that the data presented to executives is as "accurate as possible". Employee morale is horrible. It has become a depressing company to work for.
