Pros

Smart people. Good culture. Good pay.

Cons

Lack of skilled (or even competent) frontend developers when compared to the competition means implementation suffers. Some exceptions apply, but company wide, IBM still really struggles with this.

Hopeless Business Unit

Pros

Flexible working hours Proximity to incredible researchers Plenty of practitioner-level talent

Cons

It's a hopeless, confused situation for some Business Units. Middle and upper management should be replaced entirely. No strategy, no sense of direction or purpose, and our competition is eating us alive. A lot of management promotions will leave you scratching your head, too. Like, are your products are stagnant? Do you hire ridiculously bad managers? Is your staff morale in the toilet? Have you experienced more attrition than anyone before you? Promoted. On top of it all, good luck trying to get a promotion, access to new software, or even a steady supply of napkins or cups in the kitchen. IBM can't afford it.
