Pros

- Get to play with some really cool technology - Work life balance better than anywhere I've ever worked - Management is pretty hands off which gives you a lot of head room to do crazy innovative stuff - IBM as the first name on your resume opens a lot of doors - Some travel opportunities

Cons

- compensation is not competitive - offices are kind of old - hard to move teams or locations

Pros

There really aren't any pros anymore. I wouldn't recommend anyone go there.

Cons

Investment in software development is gone.

Pros

Higher pay compared to some. About on par for other large companies though. PTO/Health is VERY standard.

Cons

Long working hours (based on team). But it seems fairly consistent that most are asked to regularly work 50+ hours. Salaried employees especially. The "IBM way" phrase that gets thrown around is their way of saying "work longer, for no extra pay, because you work for IBM" (which clearly means you're superior to the competition and should be proud). They have no real structure, or company goals, other than money. In my orientation class, they ACTUALLY said "What does IBM do? We don't know, but help us define it."..... They actually do not have any core. Others: You wont be able to move within the company. If you do well, your boss will not allow you to move, which they must sign off on. Consistent fear of RAs for many. They are very sneaky in their hiring process, in terms of their expectations of you.
