      Poor management, low pay and little reward for going over and beyond.

      Pros

      For the most part like the people I work with.

      Cons

      Poor management, no leadership, collaborative environment leads to lack of direction, poor communication, few rewards for working hard and delivering exemplary results. Known in the industry to be cheap in terms of pay.

      Pros

      I work at a remote location on site with a client as a consultant and I do not have the full day to day experience in ICF HQ but there is a strong company culture that can easily be tapped into online and at remote office locations, a nearby office held an Earth Day park cleanup and I was able to participate in that. They reimburse for education. Overall the experience has been good.

      Cons

      The rating system for personnel review used to be more fair, now you have to go way above and beyond to get a good score which equals a raise but I have been satisfied with my cost of living increases over the years. I would prefer to still get a good score but not receive a raise if that is the tradeoff. The current way I get neither.

      Strong public-sector consulting firm with some flaws

      Pros

      Solid presence in many areas of government consulting; particular strengths in energy and environment. Diverse and skilled staff. Still small enough to be relatively agile.

      Cons

      Compensation is on the low side. Practices are managed separately without adequate cross-departmental collaboration, which really hurts ability to go after the increasingly complex contracts that government agencies are putting out. Staff are expected to do the heavy lifting on business development without adequate resources. Frequent business acquisitions mean often incompatible systems and culture conflicts.
