Pros

- Decent industry education program - Friendly coworkers - Lower management is somewhat more supportive - A good company to start your insurance career, but you will probably move on

Cons

Management seems unfocused at times, and has tunnel vision at other times. The only constant fosus they seem to have is on the bottom line. They seem to look at employees as more of a liability than an asset. Management has no idea how the daily duties of the employees are executed, and constanly make decissions and changes that disrupt business and workflow. Upper management is out of touch with it's employee base; only showing up for their propaganda filled "Pep Rallies".

Pros

Company has a lot of vendors who will bring food, gifts, and do raffles. The health benefits are amazing.

Cons

1. This position is severely underpaid and under appreciated. 2. Company boasted during interviewing about opportunity, but comes up short. 3. There is little no positive recognition in this position. You’re made to sit in meetings where your adjusters get unending kudos and positive feedback but the assistants who took care of the clerical work on the file get no recognition. 4. Absolutely no organized training program. The training is basically you shadowing your coworker, who already had a heavy workload so you feel like more of an inconvenience than a trainer than actual training. 5. The ability for lateral movement from this position has more to do with compliance than ability, talent, or hard work. 6. Company is currently going through large changes and positions are being reevaluated 7. Poorly trained and monitored supervisors who will in turn micromanage you. Supervisors have 0 humility and never admit when they’re wrong or apologize for false accusations of doing some incorrectly. This is by far the worst aspect of this place.

Pros

Work from home is a nice benefit. Employee only health plan is lower cost than most.

Cons

Underwriter goals are out of reach and the bonus structure is a joke. There is no work life balance and unless you fit into the good ole boy club, there's a good chance you will be miserable. Branch and home office mgt is best described as blind leading the blind. They just announced an E&S product coming. The last time they did this just two years ago was rolling out property that within a year, they let go of the entire property team and stopped writing it. If you are new to underwriting, you may like the fact that the rating system does all of your rating and underwriting. If you are experienced, expect to have low authority levels and to have to refer 8 out of 10 quotes to mgt to sign off on. New ICW President joined in Jan 2025 and we are all hoping he can make some changes.
