Great Job, Poor Pay

Pros

Work with great people and understanding bosses, also video games

Cons

Wages are poor for most considering its based in one of the most expensive cities in the US, and compared to all the other tech jobs in the city.

Great people

Pros

Absolutely great people. A family. Projects vary, always new things to learn / do. People just care and there is a nice work balance (this does vary from team to team.) Freedom to do what you want if you ask Relatively flat for such an old web company (There are the main managers and then everyone else) Get treated equally no matter who you are.

Cons

Pay isn't the greatest since SF is so expensive, but this is solved because of the culture and people. Difficult industry since we're web and run off of ads. Causes a lot of pressure internally on how to balance ads with good practices. Mother company, Ziff Davis is based in NY and definitely not like IGN.

Fun office, bad management

Pros

IGN hires great people and is a fun environment. Having them on your resume opens a lot of doors as seen by the places former employees end up.

Cons

Poor management and a huge lack of support to those at the bottom of the totem pole leading to rapid turnover. Lost many potential senior employees due to laughable offers, hoping their name alone will compensate for it. It works for most entry level employees though.
