Pros

IGT will promote based on what you do, not on how long you have been in service. This creates an environment where employees are challenged to work harder; such is life. The new CEO is pushing the company in the direction it needs to go in order to succeed. The pay is very fair for the location of the company (Reno, NV). The work is challenging.

Cons

Currently it seems as if anyone who leaves the company is not being replaced. This makes it hard on some teams to get all of their work done. It seems as if the middle management never has any answers as to what the company is doing. Whether or not this is true, management should be able to answer those types of questions if IGT wants to retain its current employees. Bonuses where just cut for some levels of employees. Although a bonus is a "bonus" not a salary, it is worth mentioning this as one of the Cons.

Pros

Work to life balance is great. Keep allowing employees to choose when and how they work. It allows for them to maintain a sense of agency.

Cons

While my current group allows me to choose how/when I work and they recognize that they have to let go some of the time, I feel strongly that we are an isolated case and it is not the norm.

Pros

New logo! .. And more parking spots due to all of the layoffs. Rumor is more layoffs coming soon .. = more parking spots!

Cons

Terrible management team. Company bloated with VPs and Directors most of whom are in over their heads and probably just biding time until they can find a job somewhere else. Nervous workforce, everyone worried about jobs. If company sells to foreign buyer (GTECH) Reno office is fat target for closure. Anyone good who has options has split. Those stuck in Reno are .. stuck in Reno. Sad to learn Patti Hart makes $8m per year (look it up, public info) while she has destroyed so much shareholder value and reputation and morale. She can't manage the company to profitability and can only get the stock price up inorganically, via raising a white flag and announcing the company is for sale. She and her cronies will get their change of management bonus soon and be out. But it's too late to turn around, the company is years behind where it needs to be and smaller more nimble competitors are eating its lunch -- while the industry itself is going through a painful transformation due to globalization and a shift to a younger target gambler. IGT is not positioned to be strong in either vertical.
