Pros

IKEA offers great benefits and work/ life balance. There's a culture here that you have to like: store managers will pitch in to stock shelves and everyone is on a first name basis. They promote from within. The unique business structure means IKEA sources its product with safety and sustainability in mind and it's easy to feel proud of what IKEA is accomplishing. A lot of companies have business ideas or visions, but IKEA really believes in theirs. It's not just a recruiting slogan.

Cons

If you like prestige, need top vs average pay, and need accolades to keep you happy then that's fine but don't work here. It's a retail environment--some days can be long and tough especially in management and customers can be abusive customers. Values like humbleness and personal accountability rule here and does not fit the typical US frame.

Pros

I love room design and working with the public. The atmosphere is always on the cutting edge. If you can work doing something that you love it is almost like getting paid for nothing.

Cons

Having a family I found it hard to support myself with the pay. Also, I was never allowed to earn enough hours so that I would be eligible for benefits...
