Pros

Working evenings with IRS was a extra part-time seasonal position. Clerical duties, date stamped incoming IRS forms to process thru filing deadlines per filing 2012 and 2013 tax refunds. Enjoyed this job due to the hours given.

Cons

Could have worked more hours.

Pros

Excellent work life balance with competitive salary. No "busy season" as an auditor.

Cons

Rewarded for time in service as much or more than work ethic. Poor management takes a long time to remove. Software is ancient.

Pros

Federal Job Benefits starts right away. Job security is there unless you mess up big time.

Cons

Most of the positions are seasonal and you get furloughed for few months depending on budget. Hiring process is long and unpredictable. Unable to apply for tax related positions while in non-pay status. A lot of tax payers gets angry at staff (who are trying best with whatever resources are available to them) due to lack of services
