Pros

Ability to work from home. Tons of opportunity for advancement. The job is not boring. You will learn a lot about different people and different jobs. Each day will be something different. The benefits such as vacation time, sick leave and holidays are pretty good. Retirement is better than social security alone.

Cons

Your ability to do your job is based upon the whims of management. Everybody hates you. The pay is not good unless you are willing and able to keep promoting to higher level jobs.

Pros

Work/life balance, no more than 40 hours per week; autonomy; pay is adequate, nothing special; fairly low stress, but can be a pain at times.

Cons

Literally takes an act of Congress to change anything; union ensures good working conditions, but the biggest factor to advancement is time, not so much competence; furloughs are no fun; do not fully support professional development
