Pros

There is alot of job security. It is virtually impossible to get fired once you complete your one-year probation. Also, there are many different flexible schedules available. Since it's a federal job, you get all federal holidays off.

Cons

Since I began at the IRS, there have been limited promotional opportunities. I feel like I am grossly overqualified for the position, but I have no opportunities to advance. There are many incompetent employees who have been there for over 15 years, and there is nothing management can do about it, they can't fire them.
