Pros

It is a great seasonal schedule for parents, the pay is better than what the public makes and the benefits are excellent.

Cons

The job is never completed, there is always more to key. Supervisors don't give out much praise. Electronic Filing is making our season shorter and shorter.

Pros

good work life balance and interesting work. Even the possibility of part time work, which I took advantage of when my children were small. Part-time also eligible for health insurance, but at an increased cost. Good retirement benefits. I find the work challenging and spend my day reviewing transactions, researching law and meeting with taxpayers and the teams I work with. In these economic times it is also a relatively "safe" position, with many agents nearing retirement there is demand for additional hiring.

Cons

Typical government bureacracy-slow to change Also people often like to complain about any incident or audit at parties or gatherings if they find you work for IRS.

Pros

Very interesting place to work - you'll see a unique thing here...

Cons

Treated liked like dirt - let go without warning and/or reason. Other contractors said this was normal for IRS
