Pros

good collegiality in some divisions; SES leadership is generally decent

Cons

some divisions are less collegial and more political; middle management (branch chiefs) is very spotty; there are some employees who are allowed to hang around for years doing very little work due to fear of litigation

Pros

If you are able to get in and survive the constant threat of a RIF (firing) many people have made this a life long career. Supposedly there were opportunities for growth and advancement, however now with the indefinite hiring freeze, kind of stuck where you are until something changes.

Cons

Can not move up, they are only hiring for temporary appointments at the base GS -5 level. We are only getting a 1% raise this year. Morale is low, but who can blame the employees when many were let go, forced into retirement and the ones who are left are feeling low with the threatening emails and uncertainty.
