A solid place to work

Pros

My experience at IXL has been wonderful. The office space is nice, free drinks/coffee, regular socials, and really friendly people. They offer a lot of different activities if you want to get involved and socialize with colleagues outside of work. It's fantastic for a 20's something. Benefits are also competitive. The environment is generally pretty laid back.

Cons

I'd love if they offered a more flexible work schedule, including a work from home policy like a lot of companies in the Bay Area do, once a week or something similar. It's frowned upon at IXL.

Pros

+friendly and intelligent coworkers +nice office space +great pay/benefits +on-site massages (available twice weekly, $5 for 20 minutes!) +on-site yoga once per week (I've never gone, but I think it's $10/lesson for an hour-long lesson) +there's a Keurig in the main kitchen that anyone can use and lots of free drinks (I must admit, this is one of my favorite day-to-day perks of working here)

Cons

I really don't have any cons to list: so far, I love working at IXL. If I had to list anything, I suppose it might be that we could use more floor space: we're growing quickly, so the last remaining cubicles are filling up. I know management is actively working on securing additional space, though, and the cubicles we have are adequately sized and quite nice.

Exciting time to work in Edtech

Pros

IXL and the Edtech space is exploding, it's a great time to be here. Everyone at IXL is passionate about education and promoting education through technology. It's refreshing to be at a company where you can really stand behind the product. People are on the same page about wanting to make a difference in the education space and work together to reach common goals. In my experience, employees are generally happy and excited about the work we're doing. IXL has excellent benefits; 100% paid medical, matching 401k, 3 weeks vacation, company socials, in office massages, happy hours, volunteer days, game room, free drinks, etc.

Cons

Sometimes the younger employees make immature business decisions; but I think that will get better with ongoing mentorship / management. I also wish the office was located in SF or closer to the city.
