Pros

WFH (COVID) meant not having to see the horrible managers

Cons

An awful company hellbent on ruining the educational trajectory of students worldwide. Profit at all costs, and acquiring and subsequently firing all the talent at their competitors, and stifling innovation at every opportunity (both internally and externally via acquire-and-kill strategies). They will probably pay money to have this review buried. Also, you can make twice as much money easily working at any respectable company. After I left, I received an 80% pay raise with lots of equity for the same work!

Pros

Base pay is fairly competitive for new grads Great team culture Good software standards to learn as a new grad Work-life balance is smooth

Cons

CEO is out of touch Company once tried to add diversity/inclusive language into its product; this was quickly rolled back and never re-added despite promises to do so. Projects are typically top-heavy; less input from individual engineers about project direction Disorganized roadmap Product is heavily engineering-focused, so the company often moves forward with tech ideas even if it's not beneficial for real users

Thanks for the feedback. I do want to let you know that we have made some changes regarding how we promote internal job opportunities. I encourage you to subscribe to the recruiting-general slack channel in order to keep tabs on new opportunities in the organization. We are proud that our average tenure here at IXL is over 3+ years and over 16% of our employees have been with IXL for 5 years or longer!
