Pros

Good pay and decent benefits

Cons

Laid off all but 30 staff out of more than 500 employees after buying Rosetta Stone. They did the same for another company, we were told. Total disregard of employees' strengths, history, diligence, and/or qualifications

Pros

IXL software is used by millions of students. It's well designed and allows teachers to customize lesson plans according to state or other standards.

Cons

All decisions are made by two top leaders. Not just big decisions. Everything, including facility management, mid-level hiring, technologies used, even office decor. I assume this worked well as a smaller company, but at this point it means that VPs are essentially order-takers without the authority to act towards goals. Decisions are slow and there's a general fear of action. Employees are treated like contractors. There's no attempt to move people to new projects or support career growth. Solid people are fired at the same time the career page lists an identical title and position.
