Best Job with Most Toxic Work Environment

Pros

- Management is very open to new techniques/technologies that benefit Customers. - The people I worked with are some of the most talented I've ever come across - so the company can definitely attract talent. - Pay was outstanding with high bonuses (note: IPFS is all about "golden handcuffs" to keep talent from leaving. It takes a lot of courage to leave a job that pays in total 25% above market). - The company is a cash mill and you will not worry about this place going out of business.

Cons

- Work/Life balance is horrific. - Work culture is the most toxic I have ever encountered in my long career. This is cultivated at the top with the CEO who came from Deloitte and executes like a 600 person company is a Fortune 100 company (ruthless, cold, bottom line is all that matters). - Things happen in IT. Even Microsoft has outages but anytime we had an outage, it was literally like the Mongols were invading and burning the village. I was literally called by the CEO (while burying my dog 2 weeks after Covid started) and told, "Fix this now or this IT team will have trouble!". There's zero empathy at all. - I told the CIO and even many on the Exec Team that I was spending 14 hours a day working to keep things on track. They shrugged. - Only when I resigned did they suddenly care. - The IT Leadership is inept. They are hand-picked puppets of the CEO who nod frantically to anything he demands. There's zero protection of their team by the IT leadership...just pass through pressure and repercussions if you make them look bad to the CEO.

Tight rope in IT Department

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

I can't say I have anything except being remote

Cons

Even though you have lots of experience, the Service Desk employees are on a tightrope to do anything independently. Everything has to get approved through someone else unless it's minor. I taught the "Tier 2" folks how to do things, but I didn't have access to them. I was also under the impression that I could work on the Tier 2 team. You must be able to handle a situation in less than 4 minutes. If not, hand it off to someone else. Not all situations can be handled in 4 minutes. You'll be put on probation if you go beyond that 4 minutes. Oh yeah, your co-workers will micromanage you, too.
