Decent place to work

Pros

Competitive salaries. Stable, growth oriented company with some advancement possibilities for some technically degreed individuals.

Cons

Challenging schedules are the norm. Regardless of your position, you are subject to being called upon at anytime of the day or night, weekends, holidays, or vacations. Some much more than others. Still a good place to work, but not what it once was. While salaries remain competitive, annual increases have not kept up with COL. Benefits have continuously eroded since1998.

It pays, but it is just a job.

Pros

They have fair wages and benefits. Opportunity to work overtime.

Cons

Poor Communication, difficult to get day shift or promotions. Safety is too extreme to where you feel like you are being treated like a child. (Safety IS very important, but they leave no decisions to employees to make appropriate precautions on their own) Many jobs are affected by weather and you can be exposed to the elements until you go to break. They lay responsibility of the job to be covered by the employee that showed up for work if the employee for the following shift does not show.

Pros

Decent benefits (6% 401K match, small pension, though very high deductible for health insurance), large company with opportunities, work locations worldwide, never boring, lots of work available, job security, excellent recognition (awards)

Cons

Lower pay than other NJ companies, salaries are set based upon competitors in other states where the cost of living is much less, slow growth, lots of red tape for promotions, not enough technicians, hire too many PhD. students directly out of college, lots of cliques and co-worker trash talking, high turnover
