Pros

Inova really invests in employee education- you do feel prepared appropriately for the job. Good nurse-patient ratios and appropriate staffing to do your job.

Cons

Pay could be better- most hospitals in the area pay a higher hourly rate. You do have opportunity to get more hourly pay via their ADVANCE ladder, but this requires a lot of unit participation in committees, etc. It would be nice if the pay was consistent with the surrounding hospitals AND you had the ADVANCE option.

Best nursing culture in NOVA

Pros

Organized- the least chaotic floor I've worked on in NOVA out of 5 hospitals. Very well ran, very clear policies and procedures and the staff all know what the policies are. Culture- everyone from the volunteers to the top tier admin are cheerful, helpful and the patient care/floor staff always set the next shift up for success with little to no mean kid behavior seen in many other facilities. Respect amongst colleagues is top tier and I always feel supported. Supplies- OH MY GOD THERE ARE SUPPLIES LIKE ACTUAL SUPPLIES AND THEY DON'T RUN OUT!!!! Professional Development- many financial incentives to pursue career development and continuing education including bonuses.

Cons

The pay is not adequate for the 2024 economy in and around the local area. No nurse should ever be making less than $60/hr in a hospital setting regardless of unit and INOVA has paid the least amount I've earned in the area.

Toxic coworkers are rampant Company cares more about not getting sued than fixing toxic environments Mediocre benefits, high premiums and copays for everything
