Other internal opportunities with Inova.

Cons

The people. This is one of the most toxic work environments I've ever been in. Too many condescending nurses, techs, and other specialists who talk down to those in this position because it is considered the lowest rung on the ladder here, and they know it is an expendable position. Also, there is no coherent plan on how to organize everything in this department, and as a result supplies and instruments get lost or mishandled.

I worked for Inova in the PACU for over 7 years. They offer wonderful benefits, and value their nurses. They have a clinical ladder which encourages and supports you to lead and contribute to the department with an incentive for a salary raise the higher you go. They also contribute to continuing education and paid for part of my NP degree.

Cons

Hourly rate could be better.

Unit culture, free parking, understanding nurse manager.

Cons

Viciously low pay. Offered me less than what new grads make at my current hospital. Unwilling to negotiate and rescinded offer for asking to negotiate. Did not respect my requested start date of 4 weeks after acceptance (due to previously fully booked and paid for vacation.)
