Independent field work, with little supervision. Good training to do the job, and continues training throughout your stay at the company. 401K, benefits, opportunities to get around the country on special assignments, and a high sense of responsibility.
Cons
If you are not self motivated to work for long hours, produce quality work, deal with tons of people, and put up with some sourly characters during your inspections, then this might be a tough job for you . Additionally, you will be always expected to do whatever they need you to do and be cheerful about it. If these are things that are difficult for you, then this would not work for you. I worked there for 33 years and I enjoyed doing my job. I worked in Utah, Alaska, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, and California was my home base.
