Pros

-Great for networking -Competitive salary -Good as a stepping stone to a job in another multilateral organization, or to later apply to a PhD

Cons

-As a full time consultant, due to internal regulations, you can’t work for more than 3 years for the organization. To continue working there after those 3 years, and to make a career inside the organization, you have to so get a staff position -Only staff positions get benefits besides the salary -In most Divisions of the organization, it’s almost impossible to get a staff position without a PhD

Pros

Work can be interesting, but also uneven. Many times you do a lot more work than people in staff positions.

Cons

If you are a consultant, the pay is low, unstable, and without any benefits. Really bad working conditions.

Pros

Comfortable setting for a couple of years; benefits are competitive; good work-life balance

Cons

Not ideal if you’ve invested a lot in your education and are a moderately ambitious person. There’s a lot of dead weight in this multilateral institution. The chances that your manager will be a mediocre fool are extremely high.
