Pros

Currently am contracted through intercon to a philanthropic organization. This contract has fairly competitive pay, twice annual bonuses, and a relaxed work environment. You can easily rack up a lot of experience in various areas of security contracted to reputable organizations that will help open up your career options.

Cons

However, my manager doesn't manage me at all, nor does he protect me from the client. This has been an issue not just my 4.5 years in my current role as security manager, but my whole 9 years with Intercon. Nor does he respond to any of the interpersonal issues that are escalated to him. Why someone who isn't a people person at all is a manager is beyond me. There's no concern or seeming interest in the actual wellbeing of the employees. So big issues fester, and morale is perpetually low.

Pros

I like that I get breaks because standing/walking 8 hours is difficult task. I also enjoy the company of my coworkers, they are all very lovely in all.

Cons

The job is stressful when customers hover on the yellow line but I think one of many solutions to this is having a warning written on the lines for waiters to keep off. Something like, “Keep off yellow line”.

Pros

Their Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) contract doesn't force overtime.

Cons

If you're a woman, the account manager will try and pay you for s*x. They have multiple lawsuits related to this. They also only promote people based on family ties. No upward mobility. No health insurance of any kind.
