Pros

You get to work with people from all over the world, different walks of life, and different cultures- to me that is invaluable life experience and I appreciate it so much. A very important mission and the work is actually making a difference in our clients lives. Lots of PTO, pretty good benefits (health is changing in 2023, a little more expensive for the option that was most comparable to 2022's plan), a culture of addressing and speaking about systemic racism and power imbalances, but... it feels like it ends at that conversation. at least there is a conversation for a start. Pays better than other NGOs.

Cons

Pay is underfunded for the work being done, disorganized, leadership isn't really aware of the day to day of program staff. lots of policies, procedures, and systems. Feels quite silo'd. I have provided professional feedback about my manager more than once and haven't seen any sort of change in their behaviors, which is a bit disheartening.

Pros

-Close-knit, supportive work environment -Monthly team-bonding activities, occasional non-work-related events to know co-workers outside of the office -Changing departments or offices is supported -Great PTO and benefits -Meeting clients at first is intimidating, but after being a trusted face, you will build great relationships with clients and their families (Be sure to have professional boundaries though)

Cons

-You will have a workload. The 9-5 with some weeks did not feel like enough (and I worked over for sure, my full amount of flex-time was never compensated by the time I left lol) -Structure is pretty loose -Individual departments are not big (e.g. 1-3 people for departments). Do not be surprised in being a one-man show of your department -Most days, expect your to-do list or schedule to change if your supervisor notifies you of a new deadline or a client comes in. It is not even done in an intruding way most of the time, it is just the environment -Training is limited. You will learn hands on (both a pro and con) -Weeks up to monitoring (e.g. like auditing in a way) are stressful.

Pros

You get to work with great colleagues, receive good benefits, enjoy the flexible attitude to remote work and location, while being part of a mission driven organization

Cons

You have to deal with really top heavy management without inspiring leadership. There is a heavy focus on growing the budget without enough attention to the real barriers to providing quality services. And they have been handling DEI issues really badly; even if their intentions are tone deaf and come across as defensive and mostly interested in risk management.
